Ultrasound of the Upper Limb 26-28 Feb 2026 – Resources

Welcome!

Below you’ll find information and resources relevant to MSK US of the Upper Limb.  You’ll find that our course will cover things comprehensively, but if you want to get the most out of your course, you’ll find many of these resources and readings useful.

Programme

The course programme (subject to change) can be found here

Venue

Commodore Hotel, 449 Memorial Ave, Christchurch. There is plenty of parking on-site.

Pre-course Zoom session – save the date!

There is a pre-course Zoom session scheduled for:

7.30pm WEDNESDAY 11 FEBRUARY

It’s a chance to meet your course tutors, and we’ll go over some important anatomy and clinical background that is worth being familiar with in order to get the most out of the course – it’s all about freeing up more time for hands on scanning.

A link will be posted here, and we’ll also email you details closer to time.

Can’t make it? The session will be recorded and available through this page.

Online Videos

Please find below links to two videos that we recommend you check out prior to the course:

Ultrasound basic physics, settings and artefacts – this covers the fundamentals you need to know if you’re just getting started (and if you already have some MSK US experience) – click here to view  Passcode: 2E#7^uuA

US Guided Needling Fundamentals – this contains important information you need to know when getting going with US guided MSK injections. We strongly recommend that you become familiar with it before the course starts! – click here to view  Passcode: 1$1hd*!H

Protocols

A comprehensive ultrasound examination is performed in a structured and systematic manner, according to protocols.

There are many different protocols, but some of the most popular are the ESSR (European Society of MusculoSkeletal Radiology) protocols (click on each to download):

Shoulder

Elbow

Wrist

On course, we’ll take you through our structured protocol, and will provide you with a written manual of protocol notes.

Articles

Below are a selection of excellent review articles. They’re not compulsory, and we’ll cover things pretty fully on course, but they provide useful supplementary information.
